Planning a trip in cold and wet raining day isn’t always easy, but with proper preparation, things can still run smoothly. We are sometimes super lucky, but for this time, we don’t. However, despite of non stop raining for over one month in Taipei, it’s so hard to get up from the cozy warm bed to catch the morning train to the MRT station, taking bus to Neihu, to Martin’s strawberry Farm, picking the delicious red and sweet strawberries, making the turnip cake, sharing the delicious food and celebrating the birthday with all our dearly friends, what a wonderful day, what a unforgettable trip we had.

Situated in the Guandu Plain, facing the Keelung river is the Nung Chan Monastery. Established in 1975 and the home of the Dharma Drum Buddhist Foundation, this beautiful Monastery was the vision of Master Chen yen (聖嚴法師), the founder of the Dharma Drum Buddhist Group (法鼓山). The design was based on a meditation of the Buddhist Master in which he saw the temple as “it is a Flower in Space, Moon in Water ”, so it was named the Water-Moon Monastery. This was the second time WTIC Exploration Group visited Monastery, we were welcome by the abbot, the tasty vegetarian food to refresh our mind after the walking zen. The photos album and slide shows recorded our visit, whoever joined us or couldn’t join us on Wednesday, we would like to share with you, for you might want to go back and pay them a visit one more time. Dear Members,
This special exhibition is truly the major event of the year! These three large hanging silk scrolls classified as “National Treasures” were last displayed together 10 years ago. Besides the three Northern Song period “monumental” style of landscape paintings, nine other famous paintings-ranging in date from the Yuan dynasty to the Republican period, were chosen to demonstrate the great influence of these three masterpieces that extends years beyond creation.
There are quite a few informative videos about these paintings; please do check them out:
We are extremely lucky to have invited two NPM veteran specialists: Ms. Lisette Lou, who has served as Senior Executive Officer to 7 terms of NPM Directors, and Ms. Connie Tseng, who will be our English and Chinese tour guide. After viewing “A Trio of National Treasures” Exhibition; if time allows, we could also see the exhibition on Pu Hsin-yu’s paintings & calligraphy in the nearby galleries.
Please RSVP to this email before Monday, November 1st.
On November 10th, we will meet in front of the ticket booth on the 1st floor of the Exhibition Hall 1. It will take some time to purchase the tickets and rent the audio tour system, please arrive around 13:30 pm so we can start the tour at 14:00 sharp, and please prepare the exact change and remember to return your audio device to me or our work team if you have to leave early.
