Chih-hsuan Li Hou
President of WTIC 2007-2008
Remarks made on November 11, 2008 for the opening of WTIC website

The WTIC has been established under an enthusiastic and cordial ambience. The Club already has had 19 presidents, each of fine leadership qualities and who have contributed creatively during their term of office. The presidents have stimulated and attracted new members to participate in the variety of special activities arranged by the Club which will contribute to the cultural understanding and friendship.

The WTIC has during the past years arranged for the wives of the Representatives of different countries assigned to Taipei to introduce their own Country and its culture to members at a tea gathering and often including a power-point presentation. By their profound in depth lectures these ladies have certainly stimulated the close ties uniting us and also to broaden our international vision.

The WTIC members are subject to frequent changing of their lives due to the official or unofficial commitment, therefore it is always sad to say goodbye and on the other hand it is always a pleasure to greet new friend. It is my sincere hope that through this Website we may have better communication between ALL members, and even when members may be in distant lands yet we still will feel close to each other.

I am honored to be President of the Club, and therefore I hope to facilitate the understanding of all the International Welcome members in our culture. For this I have divided the structure into 3 main topics:

1. The essence of Chinese culture, through the collections of the Palace Museum, the History Museum, the Confucius Temple and Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.

2. The influence of World culture, through advanced technology, computer science, medical knowledge and fashion information, actually we stand at the same level of achievement in taday’s world.

3. The perseverance andhardwork of Taiwan’s people is well-known, and we have made the economic and social miracle besides a shortage of natural resources.

I warmly hope that my dear sister members will offer their advice and remarks for the future enhancement and improvement of this Maiden Website. I take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation for your welcomed suggestions.
