Remarks by Julie Chien,
Founder and Executive Supervisor In 1985

When my husband Fredrick F. Chien was the Representative of the Republic of China to the U.S.A., I was an active member of a very important women's organization "Welcome to Washington International Club". One day, the President of the Club and her Board extended a special invitation to us, to establish a "Welcome to Taipei International Club" as their first sister Club in Asia. It was indeed a great honor for us. I immediately contacted Mrs. Patricia Wen who had played a very important role at WWIC while her husband, Gen. Patrick Wen served in D.C. for over 14 years.

Through Mrs. Wen's outstanding leadership and hard work, together with the support of Mrs. Winifred Shen and a dozen of ladies, the WTIC was founded in 1986.

During the last 22 years, we have had very dedicated Presidents and their capable board members. The Club has fulfilled its objective as a Club of Friendship through diversified cultural exchanged programs.

We sincerely wish WTIC continued growth and success in years to come.
