WCI president Dr. Lamb’s message June.15, 2009

Honorable Presidents and Liaisons, Dear Members, And My Fellow E.C. Partners,

Because of your support and devotion, our Board of Directors' Meeting 2009 was fruitful and superb.

In the two days of the BOD Meeting on June 3rd and 4th, we covered many topics, including open discussion of the Bylaws, 2010 Brazil Conference, status of Marian Adair Award, Treasurer's report, the Link magazine, status of web site, WCI Meetings and Conferences, how to improve and strengthen interaction between Clubs and WCI, orientation, and Clubs' activity reports.

We started our meeting with a brief introduction of every participant, who was asked to tell a thing which will makes her laugh. Therefore, the atmosphere of the two days of the meetings were full of laughter and harmony, plus efficiency.

We had four special presentations from the Welcome to Washington Club, Welcome to Colorado Club, Welcome to Florida Club, and Welcome to Taipei International Club.

President Leilane Mehler gave the history of Welcome to Washington, our number one sister Club. President Kathy Swanson talked about Club administration. Past WCI President emphasized on the Club visits. Vice President Lise Cheng gave a wide range of the Taipei Club's activities.

All of those ladies: Julia B, Caroline D, Eshrat, Maria N, Lisa M, Barbara T, Joan L, Anna Kristina, Faye W, Leilane, Kathy S, Donna S, Lise C, Aida, Barbara B, Alice F. Lois F. Tina K, J.J. Lee,peg, R, Eva S, Barbara T., when they had the floor, not only presented informative and interesting remarks, but also demonstrated they all were born speakers. It seemed they were the masters of the Toastmasters.

The participants received much good advice and information from them.

We also had two outstanding speakers: Dr. Dorothy Moore "Building A Culture of International Understanding In An Age of Cyber Space", and His Excellency Ambassador Dennis G. Antoine "Effective Diplomacy A Practitioner's Prospective".

We all learned a lot from these two intellectuals. Thank you to Faye Wickersham for arranging these enlightening speeches.

Our Round Table topics were funny and practical. Every table provided wisdom to solve the problems.

June 5th we had Executive Committee Meeting. Besides the routine business, which needed to be discussed, we all thought we should emphasize the communication between WCI and Sister Clubs. So please help me dear Presidents and Liaisons, contact me or any E.C. members if you have any question. I will from time to time send you email to report to you on what the WCI is doing.

The success of these three days of meetings, is the result of much preparation. I have too many ladies to give my appreciation. Julia and Joan had prepared the agendas and others also rendered their opinions. Joan Larson arranged the venue at the Fairfax, including the meeting room, the food, etc., so all the facilities had zero defects.

Fran Luesenhop: Thank you for volunteering to be the first day Acting Secretary You did a professional job.

Thanks again to the Welcome to Washington Club, under the leadership of Leilane and the capabilities and devotions of her members, for providing all the assistance. Thank you, Leilane and the W/W members.

I have known from 23 years ago, when I first became involved with WCI, that this organization possesses high-level goals, kind hearts, talented hands, and most importantly, we love each other like sisters. We are a TEAM.

I am honored to be one of you. I am honored to be the President of WCI.

I salute you all!

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Lamb, Ph.D.
President
