Hand-made Mexican Masks Exhibition

Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology held a Mexican Masks Exhibition in the summer of 2012. The exhibition, which is organized by the Mexican government, is touring around Asia. It features 48 masks made from a variety of materials, such as wood, metal, paper and fabric, and decorated with animal hair, straw, braided straw, ribbons, yarn, glasses, shells, animal teeth, and painted in vivid colors. The masks date from 1959 to 1990, and cover various themes like animals, birds, as well as religious and historical figures, and ethnic characters.

Mexican masks are a vital part of Mexican heritage, and the exhibit gives visitors the chance to experience authentic Mexican customs and culture. WTIC members were fascinated with the beautiful pieces
