\u672c\u6b21\u6d3b\u52d5\u4ee5\u5370\u5ea6\u8457\u540d\u7684\u746a\u85a9\u62c9\u5976\u8336\uff08Masala Chai\uff09\u70ba\u4e3b\u89d2\uff0c\u900f\u904e\u73fe\u5834\u6c96\u716e\u793a\u7bc4\u3001\u5370\u5ea6\u8f15\u98df\u642d\u914d\u3001\u50b3\u7d71\u821e\u8e48\u8868\u6f14\u53ca\u4e92\u52d5\uff0c\u8b93\u8cd3\u5ba2\u6c89\u6d78\u5728\u5370\u5ea6\u963f\u85a9\u59c6\u8336\u5340\u8207\u53f0\u7063\u963f\u91cc\u5c71\u8336\u9109\u4e4b\u9593\u7684\u6587\u5316\u5c0d\u8a71\u8207\u53cb\u8abc\u50b3\u627f\uff0c\u4e5f\u547c\u61c9\u4eca\u5e74\u5370\u5ea6\u8336\u9032\u5165\u53f0\u7063\u5e02\u5834\u6eff\u4e00\u767e\u5e74\u7684\u6b77\u53f2\u610f\u7fa9\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5370\u5ea6\u4ee3\u8868\u8655Yadav\u4ee3\u8868\u8207\u592b\u4ebaShital\u5973\u58eb\u89aa\u81e8\u73fe\u5834\uff0c\u4e26\u7531\u4ee3\u8868\u8655\u5c08\u696d\u5718\u968a\u5206\u4eab\u5370\u5ea6\u8336\u7684\u6b77\u53f2\u3001\u9999\u6599\u98a8\u5473\u7279\u8272\u53ca\u98f2\u7528\u7fd2\u4fd7\u3002\u6b64\u5916\uff0c\u73fe\u5834\u8a2d\u6709\u7d17\u9e97\u9ad4\u9a57\u3001Henna\u5f69\u7e6a\u6524\u4f4d\uff0c\u4e26\u63d0\u4f9b\u9053\u5730\u5370\u5ea6\u8f15\u98df\u8207\u9ede\u5fc3\uff0c\u6df1\u53d7\u4f86\u8cd3\u559c\u611b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WTIC\u6703\u9577\u5ed6\u5a49\u5982\u81f4\u8a5e\u6642\u8868\u793a\uff1a\u300c\u6211\u5011\u975e\u5e38\u69ae\u5e78\u80fd\u8207\u5370\u5ea6\u4ee3\u8868\u8655\u5171\u540c\u7c4c\u8fa6\u9019\u5834\u6587\u5316\u76db\u6703\u3002\u8336\u4e0d\u50c5\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u98f2\u54c1\uff0c\u66f4\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u6587\u5316\u7684\u5ef6\u4f38\u8207\u60c5\u611f\u7684\u6a4b\u6881\u3002\u6211\u5011\u5e0c\u671b\u900f\u904e\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u6587\u5316\u4ea4\u6d41\u6d3b\u52d5\uff0c\u4fc3\u9032\u4e0d\u540c\u570b\u969b\u793e\u7fa4\u9593\u7684\u7406\u89e3\u8207\u53cb\u8abc\u3002\u300d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Assam to Alishan \u2013 A Century of Indian Tea in Taiwan<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WTIC and India Taipei Association Celebrate 100 Years of Tea Culture at Annual Cultural Tea Party<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taipei, June 3, 2025 \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1923, Taiwan imported Assam tea saplings from India and began cultivating them in the Sun Moon Lake region. Through decades of local adaptation and innovation, Taiwan developed its own celebrated black tea varieties, including Taiwan Tea No. 8 (Taiwan Assam), No. 18 (Ruby Red), and No. 21 (Red Rhythm), laying the foundation for the island\u2019s thriving black tea industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate the centennial of this cultural and agricultural connection, the Wellcome to Taipei International Club (WTIC), in partnership with the India Taipei Association, hosted its annual cultural tea party titled \u201cWTIC Annual Tea Party: Assam to Alishan\u201d at the Grand Hyatt Taipei. The event theme\u2014\u201cFrom Assam to Alishan: A Century of Indian Tea in Taiwan\u201d\u2014celebrated not only the shared tea heritage but also the enduring friendship between India and Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Masala Chai, India\u2019s signature spiced milk tea, took center stage. Guests enjoyed a live brewing demonstration, paired with authentic Indian light bites, accompanied by traditional Indian dance performances and cultural interactions. The event highlighted the dialogue between Assam\u2019s tea fields and Taiwan\u2019s Alishan highlands\u2014two iconic regions bonded by tea and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.E. Mr. Yadav, Director General of the India Taipei Association, and his wife Madame Shital graced the occasion and joined in the festivities. The ITA team gave a lively presentation on the history of Indian tea, the distinctive blend of spices used in Masala Chai, and traditional tea-drinking customs. Cultural booths offering saree try-ons and henna art experiences delighted guests and added vibrant color to the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her opening remarks, WTIC President Ms. Liao Wan-Ju stated,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are honored to co-host this meaningful event with the India Taipei Association. Tea is more than a drink\u2014it is a bridge between cultures and hearts. Through gatherings like this, we hope to deepen understanding and friendship across international communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The atmosphere was so lively that H.E. Mr. Yadav set aside his prepared speech and instead shared a personal reflection on his connection to tea. Joking with the crowd, he noted that while Taiwanese people often ask, \u201cHave you eaten?\u201d Indians are more likely to ask, \u201cHave you had tea?\u201d\u2014a testament to the beverage\u2019s deep roots in Indian daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WTIC Vice President Ms. Hsieh Meng-Yao and Deputy Representative of ITA Ms. Apana also extended their gratitude to all guests, volunteers, and organizing teams whose efforts made the event a resounding success. As the aroma of tea drifted from Assam to Alishan, the spirit of this century-old cultural exchange continues to flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
