On December 6, Welcome to Taipei International Club held its annual registration luncheon at the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel. Elections for the boards' members were held. Members renewed their memberships and refreshed friendships during the luncheon. Approximately 110 members attended, some of whom were affiliated with the diplomatic corps.
WTIC President Lily Chiu first delivered her welcome remarks and thanked the working team for its efforts and contributions over the last year 2016 and members for their support. MC Mika Ye announced the results of the elections. The installation ceremony followed. Installation officer Julie Chien thanked Lily for her service and congratulated the newly-elected president Linda Lee. She gave her best wishes to Linda for the next year. After flowers were presented to both outgoing and incoming club presidents, Linda expressed her gratitude for members' support and promised to do her best to serve the club and its members in the new year 2017.
Executive Secretary Vivienne Shen presented the WTIC annual report for 2016 and plans for 2017, as well as financial statements for 2016 and the budget for 2017 for approval. Then, the representative from the therapist institute was introduced and briefed the meeting regarding the results of the fundraising efforts undertaken at the 30th Anniversary in February to assist young earthquake victims to obtain trauma counseling. She thanked WTIC members for their generosity and assistance with respect to these efforts.
The entertainment program included a performance by Judy's Harmonica Ensemble, champions of the World Harmonica Festival and the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival, whose renditions of Christmas songs enlivened the event and were met by multiple encores. WTIC's chorus sang beautifully songs familiar to the audience, and under the direction of Mei-yen Liu, encouraged the audience to sing along to Silent Night. The event concluded on a festive note.
