A Malaysian Cooking Demonstration was held at the Taipei World Trade Center, 33rd Floor Restaurant on the 17th of April 2014 organized by the Welcome to Taipei International Club. The event, attended by Her Excellency Jasmine Huggins, Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis, Ambassador Martha Chang of El Salvador, wives of foreign diplomats, representatives and members and friends from WTIC who were dressed in Colors of Malaysia. It was indeed a joyous occasion.
The host of the event was Mrs. Dona Sylvester Chuan, spouse of the representative of Malaysian Friendship and Trade Center. The objective of the event was to promote Malaysian cuisine in Taiwan and to build awareness of the diversity of Malaysian food. It also aims to generate publicity about Malaysian cuisine and attracts tourist into Malaysia.

The event started with welcoming remarks from Madam Dona followed by a Cooking Demo by Madam Irene Yong, a Malaysian Lawyer who has passion in cooking and finds Malaysian food appealing as they carry influence of the Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. She has just launched her Malaysian Favorites cook book on the 16th of April 2014 at Franz and Friends Restaurant.
Some of the Malaysian Cuisines that were showcased the Satays (skewered pieces of chicken accompanied by spicy peanut sauce) and Rojak (Malaysian salad). Members had the opportunity to enjoy the prominent Malaysian cuisines such as the Rendang, Satay, Sambal Prawn, Curry Chicken, Rojak and some sweet savory served with teh tarik (literally means pulled tea a favorite Malaysian drink). The highlight of the event was the lucky draws and cultural dance. It was an absolutely exciting Malaysian event.
