Spring Excursion 2014 Da Shee Blooming Oasis
and Namchow Factory
2014.03.20

The Annual Spring Excursion began with a trip to the Da Shee Blooming Oasis, the largest flower farm in north Taiwan. Here we enjoyed the beauty of spring, as there were fields of flowers in full bloom giving our eyes a welcome treat. The helpful staff provided us with a guided tour on motorized carts, which took us to a high vantage point where we could see the misty valley and the beauty of the countryside.

A light rain didn't stop nearly one hundred of us from walking through the fields of flowers, admiring the colors, the scents and the beauty of nature. Spring is the perfect time to visit a flower park, and our group of members, guests and diplomatic spouses enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy nature's splendor.

Our program continued with an introduction to organic farming, and the Da Shee philosophy of natural growth without pesticides and chemicals. Each of us transplanted a mint plant, learned the benefits of natural fertilizers, and had a special plant to bring home.

In the afternoon we visited the Namchow Factory, part of the Namchow group of companies. Our lunch at a five star restaurant Dian Shui Lou rated one of "Taiwan's top restaurants", was a feast of Shanghai dishes, delicious and made with only the freshest natural ingredients. We then were taken on a guided tour, visiting the production facilities, the company museum, and a store to purchase the chemical free products of the Namchow Company.

The benefits of using natural chemical free ingredients has been a Namchow trademark for 60 years, and today their products are more popular than ever. Learning how to produce these natural products was informative and educational. We were now ready for afternoon tea at Paulaner another of the Namchow restaurants.

Coffee, tea and cakes were a perfect way to relax and enjoy one another's company, reflecting on all we had learned and experienced during the excursion. A wonderful day was treasured by all, as we headed home filled with new knowledge, experiences and friendships.
