2014 Lunar New Year Luncheon
2014.02.18

Welcome to Taipei International Club had one of its biggest turnouts for the hosting of 2014 Lunar New Year Luncheon at The Formosa Regent Taipei on Tuesday, February 18th. More than 180 members and guests gathered to celebrate the strength and power of the year of the horse. The Grand Ballroom was festively filled with many friends from diplomatic corps and the international community.

Club president Queeny Lin, wife of ROC Foreign Minister David Lin, opened the ceremony with New Year greetings, wishing for harmonious energy and peace by creating better affinity with our friends and family throughout the year.

WTIC Members have always enjoyed either in taking part in the performances or watching and cheering their friends on during their show. The first performance was presented by chorus group conductor Mei-Yen Kao, who impressed the attendees with a heartwarming vocal solo of " A-Li Mountain". Then a Kung Fu Fan Dance by WTIC's Tai Chi Chuan Group, led by Alison Tsai that delighted the audience with their exuberating flow of energy. This year the Salsa Group had obviously grown bigger not only with more participants, but also shaking and dancing high, and made their teammates proud was the 8 months pregnant Erica Liao bringing the house down with her soon to be due baby. The group led everyone with a high-spirited Line Dance "Wild Wild West " that sent the energies up through the roof.

The celebration continued with another exquisite vocal performance by Ray Ron Wang, her enchanting voice melted everyone's heart and soul. One of the highlights was the presentation from WTIC's Sewing group, this year the group displayed their very own uniquely self-made jackets, dresses and matching purses. Members were impressed with their gorgeous modern cut and trend-setting designs.

The New Year event would not be complete with the roundup of the Lucky Raffle Drawing; more than 50 prizes were donated by our generous board of directors and supervisors, many happy prize winners smiled gleamingly as everyone cheered. Members and Guests continued to enjoy the rest of the afternoon with delicious food and great company. As we have successfully galloped into the year of the horse, we look forward to developing stronger ties and friendship throughout our exchanges and gatherings in the year ahead.
