The WTIC International Cooking Demonstration Group and the Embassy of El Salvador held on October 15th, 2013 a spectacular luncheon featuring Authentic Salvadoran Cuisine.

Ambassador of El Salvador Marta Chang de Tsien, delivered a welcoming speech making an introduction to the special event. The program was followed by the culinary demonstration from the renowned Chef Ismar Reyes. Mr. Reyes who was born in El Salvador and with more than twenty years of cooking experience, is an international famous Chef, his dedication and sharp observation skills brought him so much success. In this event he made a full demonstration of how to prepare two exquisite dishes: "Fresh Mango and Jicama Salad with Orange and Lime Vinaigrette" and "Beef Pastry".

The talents of five beautiful Salvadoran dancers were also on display, the group performed two famous folk songs: "San Miguel in Carnaval" and "The Harvesters". The colorful costumes were actually the traditional volcano dress worn by women who collected coffee at the San Salvador volcano area and used to present the local dances.

For lunch, the Chef served several typical dishes such as: tropical salad, bean soup, grilled sea bass, cheese vegetable stuffed pepper, Salvadoran paella and the most popular and famous dish of El Salvador, pupusa.

The humble and passionate learning spirit of Chef Reyes has earned him a well-deserved spot amongst the best chefs in the world, and the WTIC and the Formosa Regent Hotel were honored to have this esteemed guest in this cooking demonstration.
