Ji Yuan Cooking Demonstration
September 18, 2012
Our 2012 autumn cooking demonstration was held at Ji Yuan Restaurant, a renowned destination for Shanghai cuisine. Mr. David Cheng, the head chef, had presided over a cooking demonstration of Drunken Prawns and Deep Fried Peanuts Spicy Salad, which are ideal delicacies for this season.

Another specialty of Ji Yuan is Shepherd's Purse, which is a weed commonly used for food in Shanghai and the surrounding Jiangnan region, but rarely seen on other menus. The participants were able to taste this special dish, along with other typical Shanghai dishes such as Jellied Pork, Braised Meatballs with Chinese Cabbage, Mapo Spicy Tofu, and Marmite of Chinese Ham, Pork, Bamboo & Vegetables.
