A Special Tea Party Jun.10, 2008

“Beauty of the Crescent Moon” with Violin & Piano Duet

This year our first tea party was held at the Grand Hotel Taipei on June 10th, 2008. President Hou Li Chih-Hsuan in her welcome address emphasized that the Tea Party has always served as a channel for cultural exchange, and as a platform for local budding young artists and world renowned performing groups to exhibit their talents and creativity to our members and friends. President Hou also thanked Mme. Santana, the wife of the Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador, for introducing the “Beauty of the Crescent Moon” group to the WTIC.

The talented members of the Crescent Moon demonstrated an honorable and courageous element through their dancing and singing; the message they conveyed was thus: “There is no boundary that can confine one’s free spirit”. Vocalist Zhu Wan-Hua, though blind, possessed an angelic voice. The jazz dance and the Hip Hop on wheelchair elevated to a perfect stance. The optimistic attitude and the smile of self-assurance on their faces were evident. The message emphasized that physical disability could not hinder them from achieving the goal that they are eager to reach. The audience gave without hesitation heartfelt applause.

Another of the tea party program was a duet performance by Dr. Yu-Feng Huang, a young famous violinist, who won high recognition with international prizes, accompanied by Mrs. Phoebe Yeh, Deputy-Director of the Department of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The audience was spellbound by this fine duet.

This unforgettable spiritual feast remained for a long while afterwards in our minds.
