Women from all over the world share the same interests, wherever they may come from and wherever they may be. In doing things together we come to appreciate each other as persons rather than as representatives of nationalities. The basic ingredient of our success is joyful participation and cooperation by all members.

Welcome to Taipei International Club (WTIC) was founded in 1986 by prominent persons in the Republic of China, their names appear in the official directory.

WTIC has the same objective as that which inspired the establishment of the Welcome to Washington International Club in 1959 – the first Welcome Club International, with which we are affiliated. The underlying objective is to support international friendship.

In the Republic of China, this was done in 1986 by assembling a group of local women who then invited a number of women from the international community to join them in a club of friendship.

Guiding Principles for WTIC are that no politics, no protocol, no money-making projects, no paid speakers or teachers, no profit (or if so, on a very limited basis) should interfere with the operation of the club. WTIC must never be used for any sort of promotions or endorsements, and peddling of tickets or anything else is strictly prohibited.. Dues are kept to absolute minimum, sufficient to cover necessary expenses.

National and international membership is kept in balance, and all members agree to participate actively for a certain period of time. A guiding principle of the club is that members are encouraged to join at least one interest group. WTIC is fortunate in having a wide variety of interest groups led by dedicated chairpersons. We try to involve as many members as possible in the group and we accept suggestions for programs eagerly.

Each year, two international tea parties and one or two excursions are scheduled. The Registration Luncheon is held in early December, and the Chinese New Year Celebration in month of the Chinese lunar Year. A newsletter, issued one to two times yearly, keep us abreast of developments.
